I am now the President

I have wondering how, if I were president Obama, I would handle a lot of the criticism and blatant racism that has marked the early part of his presidency. Republicans, apparently without any thought to reason or facts, have attacked him from every angle imaginable, much as they did Cllinton, but this time without any basis, or smoking cigar. He has been labeled a socialist, communist, traitor, harbor of and friend to terrorists. He has been told he cannot be trusted to talk to our school children, like many of his predecessors, for fear he will indoctrinate with his socialist ideas. He has falsely accused by others as not being American, of being a Muslim, and the list goes on ad naseum because the Republicans cannot get over the fact that an uppity black man won the election. As has been stated by those wiser than me, the only thing missing from Joe Wilson's remark was, "your a liar nigger". Never has a president had to put up with this kind of disrespect. Not when the bigges liars to ever run the country, Cheney and Bush, falsely let us into two unnecessary wars was he called a liar by a member of the House or Senate, even when we knew they were lying. And none of this includes the biggese dirt bag liars of the all, the right wingnut pundits like Limbaugh who continues to have a huge market share because even though he hasn't uttered a true statement in many years, because he plays to the fears and hatred of stupid white scared little maggots, he continues to have an audience.

Another sunday May 2009

Incredible, but another year has gone by without writing, so here I am.. Spring has offially sprung in PA, warm muggy and plenty to do in the yard. If only my back would cooperate. I am sitting in my office, listening to Bob Perkins BP with the GM, Sunday morning Jazz from U of PA radio station via Public Radio. I missed most of Marian McPartland this morning as I had to finish up some dirt moving in the yard. This afternoon I am going to see Star Trek in the local Imax theater with my new little brother Evan, more about him later. Next week Sharon and I will be leaving for 10 days in Spain. Very Cool, more about that later also. Right now I've got to make a phone call and make sure the teenager is awake so he will be ready for the movie. Typical American Memorial day weekend. Yard work, relaxation, and barbecue.

Just another Sunday and another year

Well, here it is Sunday, One of the two teams I picked for the finals of the NCAA tournament is in and I couldn't care less. I need to practice just writing, as I have decided to take another writing course at RACC, that's Reading Area Community College, for those who care and don't know, with my wife for something to do on Saturday mornings for the next five weeks. I found I really enjoy writing, but have no self dicipline to just sit down and log my thoughts and ideas, which is what it takes to be a successful writer, that and an ability to convey thoughts and ideas in a humorous, interesting, or whatever style I may choose to write in, that would make it readable to someone other than myself. I find I have the ability to expand on almost any topic presented in class, for assignment, what I have a problem with, is knowing when to stop, or more accurate yet, how to close out a thought. A lot has happened since the last time put finger to keyboard, as opposed to pen to paper, here and I hope to, little by little catch up while I try to have the dicipline it takes to just sit down and type. I bought a bike yesterday, in the hopes of getting back to excercising to some degree. I decided to have them change the seat, from one of those little banana seats, that dissapear completely up your ass when you sit on it and are about as comfortable as sitting on a rock. I have them putting a little larger spring type seat that is attached to a telescoping post which will afford at least a little more comfort for my back. They are also changing the tires to a little larger and more knobby type for either on asphalt or off road type riding. I always find I am more apt to get involved in an activity if it involves some sort of gadget, in this case a bicycle, instead of just my feet and walking. I have also gotten into model trains, since my last post. I have been playing with both HO and O gauge model trains and am in the process of setting up two systems in my basement, again a hobby that involves gadgets, but I really do love those old time steam locomotives, they are so cool and the higher end models are so intricate in their design. I am having a ball with them but have to get the layouts designed so I know where to start in putting all the scenery and structures. Fortunately I have a fairly large basement so I can spread all the stuff out and still have room to walk around without stepping on too much stuff. Well, that is where I am at this time. Writing, biking and trains. I have to put all of this on hold for the moment, however, as I just heard from "she who must be obeyed", that it is time to bathe and give hair cuts to Curly, Molly and Maggie, our three Yorkies. I will be back here later, as when I am done with that I believe I will sit in the hot tub for a few minutes and relax. Life is goo.

Another Sunday

Well, I just read over my post of almost two years ago and found that a couple of people acutally read it. This has prompted me to update, at least a couple of lines, and to make a commitment to myself to actually write some more this next wee. To Juicy Fruiter, sorry Inever responded, I did however check out your site and I hope your marriage is going well. Derek, you kow where I am, and Keely, I am truly sorry you took offense to something, but as I have no earthly idea what it was, maybe if you ever come here again, we can actually have a dialogue. My life has been going along very nicely, a couple of potential medical scares, avoided, getting older, faster than I would like and my main peeve is that George Bush is still in the White House, sitting on Dick Cheney's lap screwing up what was once a great country to live in. I had hoped he would have been impeached by now, but we have a gutless Congress. Ah, I got that off my chest. Today was a good day, I am above ground, I got to listen to Frank Morgan and his wonderful Alto Sax, on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, this morning while I read my paper and went to see The Bourne Something or Other Version 3. I loved it. Action from start to finish, great photography and music and Matt Damon continues to impress me with his acting abilities and his abilities, certainly as an action anti-hero. This really is a movie not to miss pure fun and drama from start to finish. And since it was pretty predictable, also, it had to well done to captivate the way it did me. More tomorrow, or at least this next week.

Sunday afternoon redux

Been practicing my sax for an hour and am happy with the results, so far. I thought I was probably crazy, taking up the saxophone at 58, but thought what the hell, I am getting older, whether or not I do anything new, so it is never too late till I am dead. If I don't find a new hobby, I will probably just spen more mone on ebay, on records which will wind up collecting dust, or more old amplifiers, can't have too many amps.
I got the idea for this blog from Derek, he is a computer maven, and I think it is a good way to keep track of my, generally insane thoughts. I read my NY Times this morning, which is my normal Sun. morning routine and, as is also my routine, got pissed off at our current administration and it arrogant world domination fantacies. Maureen Dowd was her usual glib, eloquent, self, but today was lacking much humor, do to the unhumorous topic of her column. I find it difficult to wax humours regarding the prison torture our President and his minions are sanctioning, in Abu Graib, Gitmo etc., especially the crusade like flavor it has taken on. I like to think of myself as moderate to liberal, politically, depending on the subject being discussed, but I am leaning far more left the more this curren clown, George W. and his boys and girs, continue to bull their way more and more intrusively into my life and the lives of more and more people around the planet, with apparently little or no regard for law or common sense. Well I am done, I had no plan on getting on a soap box but it always feels good to vent where there is dangerously little chance of anyone ever reading it.

Sunday afternoon thoughts

Sunday morning rant in response to Derek

Well this is my first blog, created in response to my Nephew Derek, who shared his with me this morning. I have no idea what I will write, so I am just posting this to let him know he is not the only blogger in the family. I am currently listening to Miles Davie, interspersed with Coltrane, Robert Johnson and Elton John. My musical interests are diverse, but mainly Jazz and classic rock, as I am a classic myself. I like vintage HiFi equipment and am learning how to play the Sax. I am married with no children of my own, have a dog, bird and cat. Thats it for this morning.
